Critical Network Support: HCI Energy's Interview with Urgent Communications

Urgent Communications recently interviewed the HCI team to explore how advancements in hybrid power solutions are supporting the public safety sector. The conversation highlighted HCI Energy’s next-generation 8’ x 20’ Hybrid Power Shelter, a critical tool for ensuring reliable communications in off-grid and challenging environments.

Here are a couple of key excerpts from the article highlighting the benefits of hybrid power in remote regions:

“A lot of times, the most optimal sites were not able to be considered, because they were off-grid or were too expensive to run power to them,” CEO Joe Kessinger said during an interview with Urgent Communications. “The alternative was an inefficient and non-environmentally-friendly generator running 24x7 [24 hours, 7 days per week].

“...[now we're] able to put power in sites that were either previously unreliable or not economically feasible. This reduces maintenance and operational costs. It reduces the generator time substantially—by almost 94%.”

This focus on minimizing maintenance needs is echoed by Matthew Douglas, broadband manager at Hoopa Valley Public Utilities District, who highlights the reliability and comprehensive nature of HCI Energy’s solutions.

“We selected HCI Energy’s Hybrid Power Shelters because they are a reliable, all-in-one solution,” Douglas said in a prepared statement. “Other options weren’t complete or tested, and HCI Energy’s smart power management and monitoring give us the peace of mind we need to maintain our remote sites.

“I’ve lost sleep worrying about power failures, often finding out after they happen. HCI Energy’s system changes that by actively mitigating potential issues and sending alerts before there is a problem.”
